Texas Governor Deploys 1,000 Guard Troops; Democrats Blast Perry for ‘Militarizing the Border’

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) on Monday announced he is deploying 1,000 Texas National Guard to the U.S. border with Mexico, saying he can not idly sit by while “our citizens are under siege.”

As TRN has reported, Perry said that “unaccompanied minors” make up only  20 percent of those being apprehended illegally crossing the border, with thousands of  adults, cartel thugs and gang members streaming in while border agents are distracted changing diapers and processing illegal alien kids for Obama’s executive amnesty.

Perry pointed out the tools these criminal aliens have inflicted on his citizens:

Since 2008, more than 203,000 criminal aliens have been booked into Texas county jails….These individuals have committed over 640,000 crimes…and that is in the state of Texas alone. This includes more than 3000 homicides. All because the Federal government has paid only lip service to this crisis.

Perry said he can no longer wait for the president to act as gang members and drug cartels flood into Texas, causing crime to skyrocket. Perry pointed out how the current surge was directly caused by President Obama’s 2012 “DACA” executive order that has motivated hundreds of thousands in Central America to send their kids to the U.S., knowing they will he permitted to stay.

Perry criticized Obama for refusing to even visit the border, calling his refusal Obama’s “Katrina,” moment.

Democrats blasted Perry for “militarizing” the border instead of welcoming the “children” crossing en masse.

Rep. Joaquín Castro (D) said Perry is “militarizing our border” with his reported decision to deploy state National Guard troops there.

We should be sending the Red Cross to the border not the National Guard to deal with this humanitarian crisis,” the Democratic congressman said in an email. “I remain hopeful that our state can provide a more helpful response than to send armed soldiers to greet children seeking refuge from violence.”

Greet them? Should Perry put out welcome mats in Spanish and Mayan languages instead?

Castro also regurgitated the Democrat lie that these “kids” are escaping unprecedented violence in their home countries. Data clearly proves that the economies are improved and crime rates lower in 2014 than during the recession of 2009-10, when there was no such mass “escape from violence”.

As TRN reported yesterday, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin reported that, along with hundreds of illegal alien kids from Central America, Obama dumped 90 children from India in her state, for “processing.”

So are children from India also suffering from an “unprecedented level of gang violence, rape, murder and human trafficking”too? Of course not. People around the world are sending children to the U.S. to partake in Obama’s mass amnesty decree — the sole reason for the current border crisis.

Gov. Perry has had enough. But 1,000 troops is not enough. And Texas cannot be the only border state to deploy troops. Arizona must step up as well, and both states must be willing to defy Federal oversight to defend their own sovereignty instead of just being bryanstars to Obama’s lawless tyranny.
