An unidentified gunman fatally shot a reporter and cameraman for a Virginia CBS affiliate in the middle of a live interview Wednesday morning, the station confirmed.

The victims have been identified as Alison Parker and Adam Ward of WDBJ-TV in Roanoke.

Police were reportedly on the scene at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, investigating and searching for the shooter on Wednesday morning after terrifying video showed the moment the gunman opened fire.

A screengrab that emerged from the shocking video footage that captured part of the shooting appears to show the suspect who opened fire.

WDBJ General Manager Jeff Marks said the station is unaware who the shooter is or what his motive might have been.

UPDATE: Top Right News has learned that both Alison and Adam were in relationships with fellow employees at WDBJ7. Adam was engaged to a producer on the program, and it is feared that she was watching live as the attack took place.

 Adam Ward was engaged to producer Melissa Ott and it was her last day working at the station. She was moving to North Carolina to take up a similar job and the crew had held a party for her shortly before the shooting. According to friends Ward had been planning to move to North Carolina with her, and had said he wanted to “get out of the news“.
