The U.S. news media just spent the last 24 hours engaged in an orgy of #FakeNews over President Donald J. Trump’s executive order limiting entry from seven high-risk nations.
Now Trump just set the record straight with a single statement.
President Trump defended his executive order that bars the citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the United States.
As thousands of protesters were chanting outside of the White House on Sunday afternoon, the president issued this statement chastising the media for characterizing his order as “a Muslim ban.”
“America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border,” Trump said in a statement. “America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave. We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say.”
“My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months,” he continued.
“The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days. I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria.”
“My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.”
In just 13 lines, Trump completely refutes the hysterical hypocrisy that Democrats, far-left, Soros-funded activist groups and their lapdog media have been screaming for a full day, with thousands bused into airports around the nation to repeat the lies.
The reality of course is that President Trump in 2017 is simply following an almost identical refugee pause process as President Obama in 2011.
The media are twisting like pretzels to reconcile how Trump is bad, but Obama is good. They are doomed to fail as the facts spread.
♦ Obama selects 7 countries for enhanced visa security policy and media… crickets.
♦ Trump uses Obama law, same Obama DHS policy, and same 7 countries; for a 90-day visa suspension and media explodes.
And a Muslim ban? Seriously? Try this on for size.
This is Indonesia. Home to 200 million Muslims. Not one of them “banned” under Trump’s executive order:
But the nations that are — temporarily — banned are those which are infected by ISIS and present far too great a risk to the American people.
President Trump’s “extreme vetting” of refugees is necessary because Barack Obama did such a lousy job of it.
Even Obama’s own DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson admitted as such, telling a stunned Senate committee that he had no effective method in place to vet those refugees. We don’t know “a whole lot” about them, he admitted. Because most of them fake or dispose of their paperwork — just as the ISIS thugs who slaughtered 137 in Paris entered Greece posing as “Syrian refugees.”
That’s all over now. Trump is putting proper vetting in place. And — so far — he and his team seem more than prepared to weather whatever media storm goes with that action.
