On Christmas morning, physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson showed remarkable arrogance and pettiness typical of the so-called “new atheists” in a series of derisive tweets targeting Christians.

Tyson, the host of Cosmos, issued some pointlessly confrontational tweets about Christmas:

The blowback came quickly.

Indeed, for someone who considers himself quite the big shot, he certainly acted rather petty on one of the holiest days on the calendar for 1.5 billion Christians.

Trent and Rep. Smith may have been referring to Tyson’s arrogant scolding of conservatives over the atheist’s own “climate change” dogma. Many conservatives have been critical of Tyson putting politics over science, with Hank Campbell summarizing just a few of Tyson’s scientific blunders on his reboot of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos.

With the backlash in full effect, Tyson sheepishly tried to backtrack to safer ground – actual science:

It didn’t work:

And then we had a winner:

Neil?

Didn’t think so.
