Can someone please direct Naya Rivera to the nearest shower? The Glee actress appeared on The View this morning , and for some reason the the panelist started to discuss co-host Nicolle Wallace’s claims she showers over three times a day.
Naya decided to pipe up and claim only “Whites” hit the showers more than “ethnics” (yes she said ethnics!).
According to Naya:
I have to say I have a theory about showering, which is that I think that White people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a White people thing.
Um, what? Rosie O’Donnell zeroed in on a black woman in the audience who looked like she was about to pass out and quipped:
Look, there is an African-American woman right there in a yellow shirt that is about to have a heart attack.
Rosie then asked her if she took daily showers, to which the woman nodded she did. Of course she does.
Naya tried to backpedal by claiming a “study” that she felt backed up her claims. Dr. Rivera remarked:
A study says… a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I’m right on the mark!
Huh? Then she tried the Hey, I have a White husband, so it’s ok attempt. (Face Palm)
Non-‘White People’ — especially Black folks — took to Twitter en masse to give it to Rivera:
Now white people gonna think we don't shower cuz of Naya Rivera

Did Naya Rivera forget that she was Black when she decided to announce her ideas on cleanliness of "ethnic" peoples?

I'm not playing with Naya Rivera. Please do not go on TV labeling people of color we do not partake in your nasty tendencies.

Feeling the heat, Rivera tried lamely to joke it off online by saying:
When you get out of the shower today, get a sense of humor. Love ya!

Ah, I see. If a White person said that Blacks and Hispanics don’t shower enough, it would just be written off as a joke….RIGHT?
Sure it would. Let’s imagine it, shall we?
Random White Actor: “Not showering every day is a Black and Hispanic thing. We shower much more than they do. Really…it’s ok because my wife is Black, and she only showers twice a week. I’m like: ‘What’s wrong with you?'”
Yeah, I’m so sure his career would be just fine.
