Former Trump Aide Reveals The Disturbing Reason Why Candidate Never Buttons His Suit Jacket

According to his former senior advisor and close confidante Roger Stone, there is a reason Donald Trump doesn’t button up his jacket during public appearances.

Conservative talk show host Larry Elder asked why Trump didn’t button his jacket, saying he’d never seen that with a politician before.

And he isn’t the only one. We found dozens of fashion critiques of Trump online, including this one from TIME fashion correspondent Eric Wilson after the last debate:

Just look at Trump on that stage in Cleveland. How could you miss him, even among a panel of 10 almost identically besuited men? Navy suit, red tie, white shirt, American flag pin on his left lapel –what differentiated Trump was the fact that he was the only candidate who did not button his suit jacket while he was standing on stage.

It has been described as a “fashion faux pas” again and again, from Vogue, to Gawker to HuffPost.

But according to Stone’s ominous response to Larry Elder, it has nothing to do with fashion — it’s because he is always wearing a bullet proof vest.

It’s no surprise that Trump is cautious about his personal security given the deluge of death threats he has received since becoming the Republican frontrunner.

Following his controversial comments on Muslim immigration, there was an explosion of “kill Trump” threats made by leftists on Twitter.

Trump first began wearing a bullet proof vest at the recommendation of the Secret Service after a “massive” number of death threats, related to his immigration rhetoric and after reports that the world’s most wanted drug lord El Chapo had put a $100 million bounty on his head.

Trump’s vow to build a wall to stem the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico has stoked major resentment and even more death threats.

This week, the Pope slammed Trump for his border policy despite the fact that Vatican City is surrounded by a wall and allows almost no immigration.

When you’re worth billions, and attending rallies with +20,000 people, you might want to take ‘a little precaution’, especially when you can enrage the left simply by exercising your first amendment rights.

    • Trump is launching a new fashion craze, body armor for the people!

    • BuddyLuv

Also by exercising your second amendment rights.

Wow Brian hayes, that’s really disturbing SMH. You phhhucking moron

  • sjc0116

LOL.. fashion faux pas.. who cares even it was because he likes to wear it unbuttoned. That doesn’t make a person. But anyone with a functioning brain could have guessed it was for this reason. we need media to tell us this incredibly important, earth shattering news?!

    • sgb1

I think it was an excuse to pick on him a little–point out that he doesn’t button his jacket.

    • ugogirl

His gold chairs are much more reflective of him than his jacket.

  • lauraroberts

I hope he has trusted folks guarding him….the way the establishment hates him and his disruption of the status quo, I wouldn’t put anything past them. Oh and then there is the immigrants and such also.

    • Mary Curry

The Secret Service appreciate Trump because he treats them with respect. He does not make them carry his luggage or hold an umbrella over his head. He takes notice of their needs for a break or a meal. He augments them with his own security and treats them as professionals. Everything that the Clinton and BHO circuses did not and do not do.

  • Richard M

Who gives a damn if he buttons his coat or not. I don’t wear a vest and I DON”T button mine cause I hate the confining feeling.

  • CLSt1

I never button my jacket for two reasons. One I find it too confining and more importantly it limits my access to my concealed firearm.

  • Ghost Wolf

He should have one of these as well.

I’ve never cared for the look of a buttoned suit jacket. The suit is formal enough. Also, Trump gestures a lot when he speaks, hands and arms all over the place. Unbuttoned suits him just fine.

  • Mach1club

Who gives a shit just win the election!!
Come on people make this happen!!

    • lizzijit

      your wish is granted smile

  • ConservaWynne

    1. No one buttons their suit coat
    2. If he did want to button it, one would think he would get the suit coat tailored to accommodate the vest

    Bunch of nothing

  • Infadel Macgee

Yeah its funny how leftists who very much like too brag about how tolerant they are , are the first ones to attack someone or utter death threats because someone didn’t agree with them ..

  • Shaniqua

Who can blame Trump for caring about his safety. When you have George Soros, elitists, political criminals/world leaders here and around the world who are threatened by him, it’s not far fetched to realize many want him dead. These political hacks and foreign leaders are taking a lot of money from US and aren’t willing to tolerate an American President willing to put a stop to the monetary, trade, and job ripoffs that has been allowed to go on for DECADES!

  • Joy Beum

I’m voting for Trump. Not because he wears stylish clothes, but because he is the only candidate running who will not bow down to the powers that be.

  • Harry

That’s the stupidest answer ever to why he doesn’t bottom his suit. Bulletproof vest. They make vest you can wear under suits. Heck there are suits that are bullet proof that rich people can buy. He does it for one simple fact. He’s showing everyone he’s different. If everyone on stage buttoned their suit watch him walk out buttoned. Yet he really does it to show he’s one of the people I think.

    • chatecat63

Atleast he always wears a tie when he’s in a suit.

  • mary

Each one of the Republican candidates should wear one.

  • Daniel Barger

I don’t doubt he wears a ballistic vest in public….but with his money he could get a tailor made suit jacket that is level IIIA Kevlar.

  • W Dawes

Most likely on the top of the Clinton Opposition Elimination Program

  • Dan Lack

This one is a bit hard to figure…the man is a multi-billionaire who wears the most expensive Brioni brand suits..surely he could buy a dozen more suits, specifically designed for the suit jacket to fit comfortably over the bullet proof vest..by buttoning the jacket, surely it just adds a tiny bit of protection for the vest no?, it cant be that it is better not to button the jacket?

  • Trump is wearing a corset because he’s fat, out-of-shape fraud.
