Jase and Missy Robertson, stars of the hit show Duck Dynasty, have always been very open about their youngest daughter, Mia, who was born with a cleft lip and palate.
Now, they are sharing about a lesser-known time in their lives – when Missy suffered a miscarriage before Mia was born.
“I was about eight to 10 weeks along when I miscarried, just enough time to be excited about it and start telling everyone,” Missy shares…
“I’d heard of tubal pregnancies for years, but didn’t really understand the mental anguish of actually having to go in and have someone remove what could’ve been your child. It was extremely difficult, and there was a lot of pain and bleeding,” she adds.*
“I was only 30 when that happened and I thought, ‘Wait a minute, does this mean it’s over for me?’”
While the fact that they got through it is important, so is what got them through it. With “a lot of prayer and a lot of family,” the Robertsons persevered and, amazingly, became pregnant with Mia just three months later.
The Duck Dynasty stars say that this experience, though it was difficult, reminded them of the importance of life and, as you can see in the above video, prepared them to love Mia with all their hearts.
When you get knocked down is the time to get back up and go again. Mia taught me that. Thanks for watching. #DuckDynasty

And now, by bravely opening up about that time in their lives, perhaps they can bring comfort to someone else who is going through a similar situation.
