James T. Hodgkinson has been identified as the shooter of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R) and four aides, attacking a Republican charity baseball practice in Alexandria, VA Wednesday morning. The shooter died at the hospital after being wounded by Capitol Police.
According to his Facebook page, Hodgkinson was an outspoken supporter of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders — volunteering for his campaign in Iowa in 2016 — and also posted vicious hate-filled posts against President Donald Trump.
However, the question of “Why did he do what he did?” might be easier to answer if you look at what the Sen. Sanders said just days ago during a speech in Chicago to supporters, which Hodgkinson reportedly watched LIVE via webstream, according to his brother.
Sanders gave a unusually virulent speech, issued a series of stinging and angry attacks against Trump, labeling him “perhaps the worst and most dangerous president in the history of our country” and a habitual liar — his speech revolved around the idea that Democrats have to “take down Trump.”
