In July 2015, a 31-year old San Francisco woman, Kate Steinle, was walking with her father on the city’s picturesque Embarcadero when she was shot in the back. She died in her father’s arms.
Her killer was Jose Garcia Zarate — an illegal alien who had been previously deported to Mexico five times, and who had a criminal record that included seven felony convictions.
Zarate was illegal alien violent felon who was released by San Francisco — rather than handing him over to ICE as they had requested.
Kate Steinle’s own city released the foreign criminal who murdered her.
Today a jury in that same city made it even worse….they denied her justice.
Despite the fact that witnesses saw Zarate CONFESSED to the crime, and his prints were all over the (stolen) murder weapon, a jury acquitted this illegal alien felon on both murder and manslaughter charges!
Jurors Thursday afternoon acquitted the illegal immigrant accused of killing Kate Steinle as she walked with her father on a crowded San Francisco pier of nearly all charges.
A spokesperson for the Superior Court of California made the announcement that the jury had reached a verdict shortly after 3 p.m. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., the shocking verdict was announced that Jose Ines Garcia Zarate was found not guilty of all charges except for a felony gun possession charge.
The case gained notoriety because Garcia Zarate is an undocumented immigrant who had been deported several times and had a number of felony convictions. Steinle’s death became part of the immigration debate in this country. During his campaign, President Trump criticized San Francisco for its sanctuary city status.
Steinle was walking with her father and a family friend in July 2015 when she was shot, collapsing into her father’s arms. Garcia Zarate had been released from the San Francisco jail about three months before the shooting, despite a request by federal immigration authorities to detain him for deportation.
He had been deported five times and was wanted for a sixth deportation.
Steinle’s death put San Francisco and its “sanctuary city” policy in the spotlight, as Democrats and Republicans lashed out at city officials for refusing to cooperate with federal deportation efforts.
No 2nd degree murder? No negligent homicide? No Involuntary Manslaughter even? The jury had all three possibilities to consider.
They chose NOT GUILTY!
San Francisco released a known violent felon for the sole purpose of keeping ICE from detaining him, and he murdered one of their own citizens. Now they’ve taken the side of the foreign invader yet again in denying Kate justice.
It is San Francisco itself that has been convicted tonight, as a city without a soul.
