This was supposed to be the week that Donald J. Trump was “brought down,” as Salon predicted, by James Comey’s “bombshell” testimony.
But it didn’t exactly work out that way. The dwindling credibility Comey already had crumbled before the U.S. Senate, as he admitted that President Trump never pressured him to stop the fake “Russia Gate” investigation. Comey also stunningly admitted he himself leaked a memo against Trump to prompt the appointment of a special counsel. Comey even made liars of both CNN and the New York Times by admitting that Trump was right — and was never a target of his investigation.
Liberals drooling at the prospects of an imminent Trump impeachment were devastated.
But Sunday things went from bad to worse, as one of the Democrats’ own insiders, Loretta Lynch, became a key target instead — and as one FoxNews legal analyst suggested:
“Lynch better lawyer up, and fast.”
Thanks to Comey’s testimony suggesting the former Attorney General Lynch herself may have obstructed justice on the Hillary Clinton email scandal, a senior Democrat Senator called for an investigation into Lynch’s conduct — and a senior Republican demanded she be called to testify.
From NY Post:
The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee called Sunday for a congressional investigation into former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she’s concerned by former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday that Lynch asked him to downplay his “investigation” into the Democratic presidential nominee as merely a “matter.”
Comey said the political request called into the question the credibility of Lynch’s Department of Justice and made him “queasy.”
“I would have a queasy feeling too,” Feinstein admitted Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think we need to know more about that. And there’s only one way to know about it and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that.”
She wouldn’t answer whether it was improper, “I can’t answer that,” but a “separate investigation” is worthwhile to find out, she said.
This is a massive move, because as the ranking minority member signing off on this, that means it has a much greater likelihood of going forward.
And top Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham demanded Lynch testify on her actions.
Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch must testify before the Senate, top Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday, in the wake of fired FBI Director James Comey calling into question her handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe. “I want to hear from Loretta Lynch,” Graham said.
This is a stunning turn of events that is leaving Democrats and their media lapdogs shocked.
