Republican Representative Steve Scalise, the House Majority Whip, and his aides were shot during baseball practice on Wednesday morning — in what appears to have been a “deliberate” attack.
The shooter was shot by the lawmaker’s security detail. It is unclear as to his condition.
UPDATE: Rep. Roger Williams (R) was reportedly also shot and wounded.
Fox News is now reporting that Sen. Lee says the shooter was shot by Scalise's security detail and is dead.

Senator Rand Paul says 50-60 shots were fired.
Rep. Ron DeSantis said he was asked, “Are those Republicans or Democrats out there practicing?”
DeSantis said the man who asked him the question fit the description of the shooter.

DeSantis said the man fit the description of the shooter. This was just minutes before the shooting.
According to both congressional and law enforcement sources, the shooting appears to be a “deliberate attack.”
Two law enforcement sources told CNN the shooter, who is in police custody, has been taken to a hospital.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who was at the practice, told CNN “it would have been a massacre” had Capitol Police not been present.
“Nobody would have survived without the Capitol Hill police,” Paul said on CNN. “It would have been a massacre without them.”
